ANCHORAGE: Saint-Pierre, Grand Anse, Fort de France
Protests fueled by vaccination mandates migrated from Guadeloupe to Martinique, following us there. We arrived to stringent curfews, police reinforcement sent from mainland France, and an island that was mostly shut-down and boarded up due to threats of looting and violence. And so, our Martinique visit was an abbreviated and restricted experience but a slice of history and a reminder of the on-going impacts of the Pandemic.

Exiting our anchorage in Saint Pierre. Once referred to as "Paris of the Caribbean", Saint-Pierre was completely destructed by a volcanic eruption of Mount Pelée in 1902.

heading North (around the corner) to Martinique's capital, Fort-de-France after an evening in Grande Anse D’Arlet. The tiny nub on the end, Ilet a Ramiers, marks the turning point towards the 'big-city'.
